Recycling saves you money
Did you read the leaflet about how successful the new recycling service is? It’s now getting more than 7,500 tonnes of stuff each year that would otherwise have gone into the wheelie bin!
“The even better news is that each tonne earns a recycling credit of around £40, so people who recycle are bringing over £300,000 a year into the Borough Council budget,” says Dylis Cornes. Council tax would have to rise by around 6% to replace that.”
“Of course, running a successful recycling service costs money, and the recycling credits contribute to that, but if we had failed to boost recycling, we would still have to pay for the service and we would be facing serious penalties that would have forced Council Tax up further.”
“So, if you are recycling, thank you, you’re doing a great job. And if your neighbours haven’t yet got into the recycling habit, please tell them that recycling helps keep Council Tax down.”
